MSS & FOSIS Jordan Arabica & Islamic Studies Course ::
July & August 2001
Brothers
& Sisters from around the UK spent a total of 2 months in Jordan,
to study Arabic and various aspects of Islam. The trip, organised
by the MSS & FOSIS also included sight-seeing excursions (to
the dead sea - below), as well as a visit to the Al-Aqsa mosque,
where the brothers and sisters went to pray. Brothers and Sisters
stayed in self-serving accomodation in Amman, where they were able
to strengthen their bonds of brotherhood, and live with people they
had never met before.
Prizes
and certificates were handed out at the end of the two month course
(below), and everyone said that it was a trip that they would always
remember.

Summer Camp Kibblestone Camp ::
Students
and youth from around the UK attended the MSS' annual summer camp,
this year in Kibblestone. As well as the usual programme of Islamic
centred talks, most of the participants enjoyed the recreational
activities and entertainment that was layed on by the organisers.

Seminar on Islamic Political Thought ::
April 2001
This
particular Seminar entitled 'The development of Islamic Political
Thought' came at a time where the idea of Islam versus Western ideologies
was a hot issue amongst the Muslim Community. hosted by Dr Azzam
Tamimi, the programme included a look into the history of politics
in Islam, as well as a clarification of current and past western
ideologoies, and their relationship towards Islamic Political Thought.
This
seminar was especially well attended by brothers and sisters, and
attracted people from Ireland, Scotland and Wales. |

Winter Camp in Derby ::
January 2001
This
(very cold and wet) Winter camp held in Derby aimed mainly to advise
those who attended of how to perform da'wah using practical means.
The programme, which was held at a Scouts hostel, included motivational
and practical talks by speakers such as Dr Kemal Helbawi, Prof.
S. Al-Hassani, Dr Bustami Khair and Ustadh Abu Sondes Malik.
There
was also the usual fun and games which inlcuded the early morning
excercises, football in the rain, absailing, rifle shooting, archery,
tug of war, night entertainment and the making of memorable video
footage which is available from us! |
