Since
it was set up in 1961, the Muslim Students Society has always stood
for the balanced, forward thinking, and comprehensive Islamic way.
Furthermore, we have always felt that the only way Muslims will
progress in the West is if they are educated, responsible, politically
aware, productive, and proactive and if they contribute positively
to the society in which they live.
With
this at the forefront of our minds, we have proceeded with our work,
and indeed, we also believe that this is one of the reasons why
the MSS has been around for over 40 years.
As
the needs and requirements of Muslims Students and Youth grow and
evolve over time, so do our specific targets and aims. However,
we do have aims that remain the same, regardless of events of the
time.
>
General aims:
-
Educating Muslim Students about their history, heritage, and religion
- Encouraging Unity amongst Muslims, especially Muslim students
- Training Muslim Students to become politically active
- Rebuilding the self-belief of Muslim Students in themselves
and in their religion
- Allowing Muslim Students to realize their rights and duties
in the Society in which they live
- Providing recreational activities for Muslim Students and Youth
- Working with other organisations and groups to further these
aims
Recent
events in the world have meant that Muslims, especially in the west,
have had to face situations and experiences that they have never
been through before. As have many other organisations and associations,
we have had to tailor our specific targets for this year somewhat
to meet these unique needs and requirements.
>
Open Door Policy
Our
activities are open to all who wish to participate, regardless of
your background. We feel that the services that we provide are beneficial
for all.

The Future and the Way Forward
The
MSS will always promote and encourage the positive qualities and
characteristics that the mainstream majority of Muslims believes
is the only solution to the problems we face. We will continue,
by the grace of Allah, to uphold the principles of Islam with the
belief that ‘Allah does not change the state of nations until
they change themselves’. (Qur’an)
This
proactive stance alongside strong faith in Allah, we feel, is the
message that the prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) was given
to spread to all of mankind. The same message that was brought to
solve the problems we face today.
We
hope that we can continue with, and indeed supersede, our previous
efforts and activities in the future. |
